Meatless Monday for Football Lovers

Writer's picture: Aqua MarieAqua Marie

After being told I had a heart attack at 30 yo and diagnosed with Celiac disease a few years ago, I figured going Vegan was a no-brainer since I wasn’t big on meat any how.

Except it kind of hurt my brain at first!

What did people eat?!

Fast forward and now Vegan, the months I spent stressing on Google, and in the grocery stores, introduced me to a whole new world of food. I also began to realize how easy it was to make traditional mid-Western fatty dishes much healthier and still full of flavor with some of these new foods.

Now I set about finding ways to get others eating more veggies and less meat without even realizing it!

DAIRY FREE RANCH DIP

What?! Did you even know it was possible to make a version of ranch that was totally from whole foods and minus the dairy that can cause so many of us bloating the day after?!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup soaked cashews

  • 1/4 cup cashew milk

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder or 1 fresh clove

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp dried dill weed

  • 3 tsp white wine vinegar

Directions…blend…eat. Yup that’s my kind of recipe!

MEATLESS APPETIZER IDEAS Now that you’ve got a basic dip ready, here are a few more ideas to “beef” up the menu for your cheering squad.

MAIN

Vegan Corn Dogs by Hell Yeah It’s Vegan (also check out carrot dogs)

Mini Pepper Nachos by Closet Cooking (I’d make with dairy free cheese)

To conclude Oil is not a whole food. A whole food, plant-based diet generally means focusing on whole plant foods as close to their natural state as possible. ... When foods are turned into oil, they're stripped of their nutrients. Some of these recipes do contain oil. However, in an effort to bring a healthier approach, exchanging foods not flavor, should be a focus lead towards achievement.
